Alone in the Dark

This particular image was quite interesting, in that it used nothing but a direct flash and little day light. This shot was the first of several that started in the later afternoon. We literally crouched through a heap of dead tree branches to find this little spot. It was if nature had blown all the dead trees and leaves into one central location. This created the perfect backdrop for the character in this shot. As evening approached and daylight vanished, we used what little light was available and my 550ex flash strapped onto my Canon.  Using Photoshop, I added the dark silhouette and a few color shifts to bring the mood alive.  Although the dead branches provided an interesting color balance, adding the blue hue over the entire photo was a much better effect.
